The project for the new Fire Station of Lecco is to reconcile a function and its technical needs with a unique and delicate landscape. The site where the Fire Station rises has a great importance from the landscape and the social point of view. The project becomes the occasion to mediate the relationship between the road and the lakefront.

The lake represents the public dimension of the city. For this reason the new Fire Station looks like a simple and permeable organism, which dialogues with the context and preserves its view. An architecture with a strong public character, but at the same time extremely effective for its function. A special building which redesigns open spaces used everyday by the firemen, used by the public on special occasions or at certain times of the week.

The building consists of a single reinforced concrete roof that connects the various volumes of the station, each with a specific function, and which protects the vehicles and the activities that take place beneath it. The space created on the roof allows firefighters to do sports or training in the open air. The volumes are transparent, giving the view of the lake to the various activities, positioning itself transversally to the bank. Those who go along the road can see the lake and the mountains, cut by the thin line of the roof, through the transparent closures of the garages and service spaces located on the ground floor.
